Fasting & Purification Retreat

Friday, 30 March until Saturday, 31 March

Kadampa Meditation Centre Auckland

2 Stokes Rd, Mt Eden, Auckland, 1024

Open your heart and receive the purifying blessings of the Buddha of Compassion. Through fasting, chanted prayers, and making beautiful offerings, prostrations and requests, we grow close to 1000-armed Avalokiteshvara and purify past negativity – the cause of our present misfortune and suffering.

Each morning we will take the Mahayana precepts, promising not to engage in negative actions of body, speech, and mind; then we limit our intake of food and water (according to our capacity) to purify our negative Karma. We will engage as a group in three rounds of prayers and prostrations each day. Everyone is welcome to experience this profound and blessed practice.

Do a little or a lot. Even if you can only make one or two sessions this is still beneficial. The precepts at 7am are necessary if you want your retreat to be a qualified Nyungne retreat. However if all the rigors of early morning rising, fasting and prostrations (full, half or standing) are too much, you can still come along as any purification practice is extremely beneficial.
