Peaceful Mind in a Turbulent World

Saturday, 16 June 10:00am-4:00pm

Kadampa Meditation Centre Auckland

2 Stokes Rd, Mt Eden, Auckland, 1024

In this world obsessed with image and superficial qualities, it is easy to make unhelpful discriminations. When our views are unbalanced we develop harmful intentions and ideas of ourself & others, causing our mind to feel turbulent. However If we train in meditation gradually our mind will become more & more peaceful and shall experience a purer & purer form of happiness. Eventually we shall be able to stay happy all the time, no matter what our situation.

When the turbulence of distracting thoughts subside and our mind becomes still a deep happiness and contentment naturally arises from within, this is the natural state of our mind free from distracting conceptions. By training in meditation, we create an inner space & clarity that enables us to control our mind regardless of the external circumstances. Gradually we develop mental equilibrium, a balanced mind that is happy all the time, rather than an unbalanced mind that oscillates between the extremes of excitement and despondency.

Topics Include:
• Developing equanimity to gain & loss
• Balancing our mind for positive intentions
• How to develop universal love
